Laos translation+ is a free AI translator for Lao and 16 other languages. There is no account to create and nothing to install: open it in your phone browser and start translating. It is built for travel in Laos, for work with Lao colleagues and suppliers, and for anyone who needs to read or say something in Lao today.
Type or paste anything — a greeting, an address, a whole email — and get it in Lao, or the other way round. Long passages are handled in one go.
Speak into the microphone and the app translates what you said. Useful when you are face to face with someone and typing Lao script is not practical. Results can be read aloud too.
Point the camera at a sign, a menu or a document. The app reads the Lao script in the picture and tells you what it says — no need to know how the letters are pronounced.
Lao pairs with English, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, French, German, Spanish, Khmer and Burmese. You can swap the direction of the translation at any time from the top of the screen.
Lao is not the only language spoken in Laos. Laos translation+ also offers its interface in Khmu, Hmong, Akha, Tai Dam and Bru. This exists for fieldwork, aid work and everyday situations in villages where standard Lao alone does not reach everyone.
It is free, with no account and no login. The browser version works immediately; installing from Google Play just puts an icon on your home screen so you can reach it in one tap.
